How do you get the MOT history to read Kalifornia 250 - most of the rebody's I've seen still show up as the base car which invariably is a BMW Z3?

It's was registered as a Kalifornia 250 on the logbook correctly through the DVLA after the conversion so thats what appears on the MOTs

Most rebody cars on this forum have had their V5 updated to show something else - ie not Z3. There's a form to notify dvla of a car being modified which can also include a make/model change.

When you then go for an MOT the mot database might not match the dvla database. The MOT Tester can edit the MOT database so its the same as the dvla database.

3 litre Z3 pretending to be Italian exotica. Two previous E89 Z4s.

It only appears on the MOT history IF an MOT tester updates the info after it has a new V5.
Mine still shows as a Z3 on the MOT (which will be sorted this MOT as it bugs me), as the V5 change had to be done after the first MOT. The DVLA update colour change on the MOT database but not model name.
