Hi, my 2002 2.2i has its fuel pump failing.
my garage has tried Bosch no luck.
have contacted BMW waiting for reply as their systems down. But estimate £450 which I presume will be the whole unit.
does anyone have a suggested supplier maybe the pump only.
many thanks

Make sure that you get the correct pump. There are several different ones.

I don't think the pump is available on its own, or at least I couldn't find one when I were searching, but...

suggests that there might be.

You can always go with the standard aftermarket replacement. They are not hard to replace and you just need to splice the wires in.

I wish I'd seen this when I needed a fuel pump. It would have saved me a lot of trouble.

Fuel pumps are pretty generic as long as you have a flow rate hight enough. The one I attached is larger then stock and would work fine. Not sure of the exact stock figures but its around 120lhr or so. Ti Automotive took over Walbro so made pumps forever.

My turbo car needs a much pump with larger capacity as it runs about twice the fuel pressure with an eye watering flow rate. The physical size is simular just a bit taller. I just had to modify the stock fuel hanger to acept it. The sock filter and everything is in the original location.

I’ve been contacted by the UK supplier Glencoe. They are asking for a picture of the pump including the carrier.

looked on the internet lots of pictures but not sure of exact model of pump.

Over the years I have ammased a collection of differnt pumps.

Stock pump on the left is a Bosch from a 2.8TU engine. They are roughly 38 x 66mm. This is pretty standard.
Center one has a bigger flow rate hence the taller height.
Right is a Walbro 455lph one with a large impeller on the bottom.

Last picture is of the pump carrier. It just drops in from the top and the sock filter is pressed on the bottom with a small clip.

dont know if this is any use… but I have two spare fuel tanks.
I assume the pump is still inside as they came off cars that had both been running …

Happy to remove just the pump if thats all you need

Thanks Mazza and everyone else for your advice. Currently we seem to have found a new pump. Which is on order. Will update later when job complete. Found a site that showed how to access pump from behind drivers seat(right hand drive). Now running fuel level down to help the garage. Hopefully plastic mountings won’t break when changing the pump. Otherwise may be coming for spares.

well there’s two tanks with all the bits still attached, and even a cover plate with the sealing grommet if you need any bits

To complete the fuel pump saga.
my local garage did managed to find a new pump. Fitted through the plate behind the right hand seat. He was a little concerned about the plastic cradle. But thinks it will see me out🤔😆.
thank you all for your offers and advice.

Moving onto a separate question.
winter storage on the tires when not in use for a period.
I’ve been on line and the recommendation is to increase to 3.5psi but only for 3 months.
I will be parking up for 4 months. Does anyone have knowledge of tyre structure to say if this is too long. I can’t unfortunately easily lift the car.
