I just rebuilt my dual vanos on my 2000 2.8 m52tu Z3 more as a preventative measure because I have 108k miles on the car for peace of mind. I did the rebuild and didn't use the timing tools which was my fault and the car wouldn't run right as the intake cam was over advanced. I took the valve cover back off and redid the job with a timing jig making sure this time I rotated the crank by hand and my jig still lined up with the cam blocks in the back. When I started it ran smooth for about 15 seconds before it threw a p1519 with multiple misses and it would drive fine after 1200 rpm so I vacuum tested the car and no leaks then I tested my intake solenoid and it only fires out and doesn't retract when the 12v is taken off so. Do any of you have suggestions to what this might be? Can my timing still be marginally off even though the car runs flawlessly above idle? Is my solenoid bad?
