Z3 2.8 pre-facelift (Izzy)
(I'll keep this listing up to date over the next few weeks as the situation evolves, but I since I have decided I will be selling it, it seems foolish to wait)

Regrettably, I have decided it is time to say goodbye to my pride and joy - 'Izzy'. I have not taken this decision lightly, however over the autumn and winter I have cooked up a 2-year plan to buy my dream car and since I wouldn't have anywhere to store two toy cars, it would inevitably lead to selling the Z3 anyway. Plus it feels silly to be skrimping and saving every penny whilst also insuring, taxing, running and maintaining a second car!

At 138k she is a higher mileage hero, but comes with a stack of paperwork from myself and previous owner(s) and my own ownership story is well documented on this forum. As it stands today she is SORN and the MOT expires on April 20th, but she will be back on the road with a service in March, and is booked in for an MOT on March 25th. If anyone was interested in buying her they could wait until it has a fresh ticket, or I'd be happy to sell it before with a suitable discount. Once she's back on the road I will be using it again so the mileage may increase slightly.

The good:
Rust free! The sill covers were taken off last year, structural sills are solid and have been treated with waxoyl inside and out
New roof from Jack Smiths in 2024
Wheel & gaiters retrimmed (black alcantara with orange stitching) by Royal Steering Wheels in 2024 - look and feel amazing
Heated seats
Aircon (serviced last year by JWS)
Power roof
Apple carplay/Android Auto stereo & upgraded speakers
Plenty of meat on the discs, pads & tyres (Avon ZV7s)
20mm spacers on the rear axle (I can remove these or will include the shorter wheel bolts - buyer's choice!)
Orange seatbelts & brake calipers - just a little splash of colour to break up the black!!
Angel-eye headlight upgrade (Zedonist)
Front strut brace
OEM Roll hoops
Sale will include mesh wind deflector and tonneau cover
Sale will not include the cherished plate. (I believe the reg at the point of sale will be T289 MGP)
Common issues have been dealt with - upgraded waterpump, thermostat, belts, intake boot, ICV - all replaced or serviced in the last 18 months.
Doors have had window mechanisms serviced and new vapour barriers installed.
New lower control arms, track rod ends & refurbished front ARB
Bulletproof reliability - she has taken me on trips to Cornwall, Italy and Spain in the last 18 months and save for an EML on the Italy trip, which ultimately turned out to be a split intake boot, I've not had a single problem with her.

The bad:
Minor water ingress behind the driver's right shoulder in heavy rain and at motorway speeds. Not enough to cause problems with a soggy interior, but enough to give you a damp shoulder. I am certain this can be adjusted out, it just doesn't bother me enough to spend hours trying to fine tune it.

The ugly:
The rear bumper. I honestly cannot fathom what happened here, all I know is that it didn't happen under my ownership! The paint around the rear near-side corner looks like crazy paving. My suspicion is that at some point it had a bad respray, the paint contracted and cracked, and then it was just painted over again. in March once it's back on the road I'm going to take it to a bodyshop for a quote to get it properly resprayed - if somebody wanted to buy the car before it was done then a suitable discount could be agreed and I'd happily throw in the spare bumper if they wanted it :p

GLWTS mate - what's the dream car?
Thanks Garrie, I was going to message you today and ask where you take your pictures up Monsal Head from before I get some proper sale photos ;)

Dream car is a Ferrari 360 😍 not the most exciting I know, but it was the one that was on my wall when I was a kid

Very nice - there was a Z4MC listed on eBay recently because the owner had aquired a Ferrari 458. He also had is 911 2.7RS for sale - think he took £17k for the Zed and £56k for the Porsche 👍

3 litre Z3 pretending to be Italian exotica. Two previous E89 Z4s.

It's a Ferrari so is very exciting.
Are you looking for a manual or F1 auto? I keep an eye (a lot) on used Ferrari prices and the 360s are starting to increase in value again (especially manuals). They seem to have got a reputation recently for being the best driving of the 'modern classic' Fezzas (for less than £100k at least).

Just make sure you have the funds to keep one on the road, as they ain't cheap (which is why I have a fake one)!

GLWTS.

Thanks Pond. It will certainly only be an F1 that I can afford. I don't think I'd be patient enough to keep saving for a manual if I ever get to the point when I've enough for an F1 burning a hole in my pocket. Plus there are conversion kits now to turn an F1 into a manual, so I'd consider having a go at that once it was ready for a new clutch.
