When I last locked the smurf I used the fob, however it appears to have died over the last couple of weeks. I can still unlock the car and start it with the key, however the alarm keeps going off.

Is there any way for me to disable the alarm?

Thanks

If it's like ours it has the siren under the bonnet a key hole on back of siren disables it might be worth a try.

Fortunately the siren is not sounding, just the hazards flashing which is pretty embarrassing whilst you're driving!

Replace the battery may be ? Geoff
That's the first thing I tried, but its not even lighting up

Maybe the alarm has desynchronised from the fob. Do you have the alarm manual with the little yellow envelope? If so it has a code inside on a card that you can input to resync the alarm.
Will have a look at this over the weekend. Where would this code be input?

I have two.brick boxes one works fine the other one doesn't but lights up.
Not to bothered as one works and don't want to mess around with spare box in case things go wrong and the one that works stops.

I use the key most of the time anyway.

Good luck getting it sorted.

Your brick box as you call it probably needs codeing to your car. When I got my 1.9 3 years I only had keys managed to get two fobs recoded them and both working fine but you have to remove glove box to gain access to a small partly hidden switch a pain. Geoff

Cheers Geoff 2nd box is only a spare and not to bothered as said use the key mostly anyway.
Only set the alarm when somewhere dodgy as the wind can set it off sometimes.

@Mnbrennan sounds like your fob is bricked which is a shame but if it was working the code is inputted via the ignition key counting the flashes of the led on your center console. It is explained better in the alarm manual.

Noted some spare fobs on eBay cheap one to bid on https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/163403648397
With the brick type I had to remove glove box as per instructions on site info section to recode two bricks following instructions which are very clear. Geoff
