Has anyone installed a classic style radio into their rebody project? If so, what did you do? Photos?

Don't think so, no.Do any channels actually still broadcast in MW?
Thanks @Pond I saw your picture in your build thread.Don't think so, no.
Buying a 'period' radio without FM will be for show only. And FM will probably be defunkt soon, as everything is going to DAB.
I bought a cheap JVC radio with USB reader and hid it in the glovebox. I had to get a 'short chassis' one as couldn't get a full size (CD player size) View attachment 347901View attachment 347903View attachment 347905to fit in the space.
I've re-used the front footwell speakers, as they have the crossovers and all the gubbins in them, then replaced my rears with a cheap set of Pioneers, rear mounted in my GRP rear bulkhead, so I didn't need speaker grilles. These are rubber mounted to stop any vibration into the GRP. They work well.
TBH I just listen to the engine/ K&N slurp/ exhaust, so music is not top of my priority list, but it's nice to have the option.
I can get Radio 5 on MW and Radio 4 on LW on the std Z3 unit. Not sure how long they will continue to broadcast though. My listening preferences shows why I keep away from the stereo upgrade threads.Do any channels actually still broadcast in MW?
I know there's lots of classic style radios out there. DAB, mp3, usb etc. I can google for them myself.
What I'm looking for is personal 1st hand experience/recommendations. ie what are others putting in their rebodies.
So anyone with first hand experience whilo can tell me what they used and would they recommend it.Has anyone installed a classic style radio into their rebody project? If so, what did you do? Photos?

That looks terrible.Switch.the radio on and it looks like this
Sorry I have not.Did you use these? Which one did you get. Are you happy with it
I was hoping that a few people had already fitted old style (or even just old) radios and they could say what they did and why they did it. I was just interested to know what others have actually done.Sorry I have not.
Can you break down what specifics you are looking for?
-Something that fits the look of the dash
-bluetooth?
-am/fm?
-handsfree calling?
-Navigation?
I suspect you'd be happy with just Bluetooth and a nice looking unit.
Another option:
Someone suggested a hidden stereo. This could work and I will add a similar idea. You could put in an actual classic radio, then buy a Bluetooth module, hide it under the dash and wire the audio out the head unit as the radio input. Something like that. You won't have an/fm controls on the stereo, but a lot of phones come with fm tuners anyway.
Just some ideas to ponder. Good luck!
