Hi there recently acquired this bmw z3 2.0.At present i am working my way through a few faults The one that has got me stumped is fault p1593 it says there is a fault with inlet vanos solenoid. I have swap the solenoids over but the fault stays with the inlet vanos solenoid. I have had a look at the disa and all seems in order.i am leaning towards it is a vanos fault and the seals need replacing. The car starts fine and idles ok but when you try to use the accelerator it starts to bog down. Hopefully I can get some feedback and maybe point me in the right direction. Many thanks for know

Welcome. Regarding the vanos fault code I had the same on my 2.0L. As a first step try cleaning the inlet cam sensor, they often go bad and don't necessarily throw a code related to it. The sensor sits just behind the solenoid on the block. Cleaning it will be a temporary fix but it might be enough to get it running smoothly.

Hi i did as you asked gave the cam sensor a clean and i got two codes p1593 and p0305 the first being inlet solenoid fault and a misfire on number 5 cylinder so swapped coil 4 with coil 5 thinking it would move or bad plug started the car up read the codes only one present p1593 go figure that out anyway will do the vanos repair and report back.

Just checked on the definition of the p1593 code, comes back as DISA electrical code.
