This process was a success.
The sealing frame was particularly awkward/difficult to re-insert and it very nearly snapped again. Due to the tight fit (by design I’m sure) it squashed itself very very quickly and firmly against the body of the car.
Initially I thought it had not sealed as I did a water test and some still trickled through (pictured below). I hadn’t tightened the bolts enough, out of fear of cracking the frame. Once tightened,
no leaks.
