Hi
I’ve owned my 2000 2.8 Z3 for 12 years. Just starting to have some lights appearing on the dash. The ABS and ASC lights and Brake Fluid lights. It needed a brake job anyway and new tires so we took it to the nearest Midas. They tried to read the codes and they came up with
39, 145, 222, 130, 214.
He said they were codes he couldn’t help me with.
Can anyone tell me what these mean? Also could anyone advise what to do about the dash lights. Do any of the codes match the dash lights?
Any help would be appreciated so that if I take It to a mechanic, I have an idea what I’m in for.

We are living in NJ “down the Shore” and were having the time of our lives until the Pandemic!

Thanks,
Pat

Hi Pat and welcome. The first code is fault on the throttle motor which is part of the abs/traction and probably triggered by the last code which is wheel speed sensor fault.
The other codes are oxygen sensor and fuel balance so probably historical codes, unless you have the engine management light on as well.

Needs some more investigation to sort out which wheel is causing problem or if there is a fault on the abs control unit.

Where are you based as somebody local to you may have the bmw code readers which give more info.

Thanks for your response Brian. We are located in New Jersey down the shore. If there is no one around, maybe you can recommend a decent code reader for me? Not sure we could work on it but at least it’s good to have a heads up before going to the mechanic.

Welcome to the forum from Egg Harbor Township. I must be close to you because only people from the tri-state area say "down the shore". When I grew up in Philly, we couldn't wait to go down the shore. I know a 30 year BMW mechanic that does work at home in Egg Harbor City and he's reasonable. If you want I can PM you my cell number and we can talk or I can meet you somewhere........Frankie

Yes I figured if I said down the shore anyone in the area would know. We are near Toms River. I don’t know how to PM on this forum, I’m a newbie. If you want to PM me your email address, I can get in touch that way. We have a few things going on right now but I’m sure I’ll get back to it.
Thanks for your response,
Pat

Hi
i know it’s been awhile. I can’t find the info you gave me about this person in Egg Harbor City that might do some work on my Z3 for me. We settled our house in Florida but now looking to take the car with us when we go back. Any info would be appreciate.
Thanks,
Pat
