Hi Forum

My son bought a 1997 BMW Z3 1.9l about 3 months ago without a Roadworthy, suffice to say it spent 2.5 months in our garage (it’s a long story and it’s a little lesson in not buying without a RWC!). It’s such a cute car that it broke my heart to see it languishing so after lots of work on the exhaust, rear brakes and an oil leak paid for by me, I’m now majority shareholder and excited to be looking after this little gem. There is still lots to do and learn and I am hoping the collective knowledge here can help with some of the remaining tasks (there are many…)

Welcome to the forum from Oxfordshire, England!

Brilliant colour, although I am biased.

You are definitely in the right place for knowledge and as said you will learn a lot from this car!

Thank you fellow Aussie! Name inspired by the ‘cheapest car to be featured in a Bond movie’ not my quote haha 😅

Oh excellent another ‘green’ I was a bit miffed that they didn’t put its true name Boston Green Metallic on my Roadworthy! I have quite a bit of paint cracking on the bonnet and the panel works guys said green (and metallic) would be more expensive 😔

And if you fill out your profile, and specify your z lives in Australia, you get a badge to say so, so everyone knows. It will save you explaining...

We need more Australian Zeds,

Early Boston green M44. Great combination. Hope you have aircon (think all Oz Zs likely have?). Owned a couple of Z3s when living in Sydney in the late 1990s/early 2000 and it was too hot for roof down in Summer without aircon on. :)

Haha, yes but only found it after sweltering for an hour in bumper to bumper traffic on a 32C day! The little snowflake has rubbed off the button so I had no idea (no owners manual either)!

Welcome aboard the best Z forum, all you will ever need to know can be found on here. The Z3 is very easy to work on just the electronics to master and to that end get yourself a decent scanner and a 20pin to 16pin obd cable changer to plug it in at the diagnostic socket in the engine bay. I use a Creator 310 scanner or their latest version the Creator 410, both available on ebay and Amazon.
Also condolences to the outrage at Bondi we have been hearing on the UK news today.
