Believe me I didn't want to. The wheels won't fit over the 3 litre calipers without a little bit of 'help'. They have only a tiny amount taken off, just enough to clear the wheels.
I did the same when I thought I could use 330 calipers, but decided against it when I looked more closely at what I was doing and the forces involved.

After Le Mans, I know I made the right decision. 140 - 50 takes a lot of force...

Duncodin, as yours is going to be as close to the real 507 as you can make a z3, check out the build of a guy that I've been following in ferrarichat.com under the title my BMW 507 project.

You'll need to set up a login so that you can see all the pics. He's in the US and is the guy who sent me scaled drawings of the side vents....I adjusted to suit a smaller area and took the taper out as a personal choice.

It's an amazing thread.

It shows how he built the car from scratch and theres a sectio on how he recreated his rudge wheels. Real nice guy that I've interacted with on a many occasions. His car would be number 253 😂

Started by making a buck. His name is Dave and with a guy with such a skill set, you'd think he'd look down on our fibreglass "nod to's"....but he doesn't, because he's aware of the work that goes into any build.

He recently uploaded a drive by video...stunning. I sent him pics of mine and he said he'd be proud to be see driving it. As I say, real nice guy.

Check him out.

Yes. His 'from scratch, in metal' build is amazing. My picture of 'some guy's wheel' a few posts ago is Dave's.

My car is going to be more for 'show' than 'go' TBH. I am confident there is no safety issue with my front calipers, otherwise I wouldn't have done it.

Another idea I need to test uses those little wheel nut covers. The VW cap expects bolts to be 19mm but bmw are 17mm. If I fit those bolt caps that'll increase the size of the bolt head and the VW cap could then just be knocked on using its own clips. I don't know how secure that would be though.
Back in the day, I had a car, no idea which one, Chevy possibly, the internal of the bolt head was hollow and threaded. Round plastic caps screwed over the bolt heads. Confused me no end when I first saw them. Worked extremely well though, never lost one.
Thinking again about using a tube in the hub. Provided there was still enough room for a socket to undo the hub nut ( autocorrect just put hun nut. . Funny), the tube could be drilled just where it meets the hub flange. Once secured, tack it 180 apart, could get a damn good tack with all that metal to disperse the heat.

All Dave's YT videos of his build have been taken down? Any idea what's going on there?
To be honest I've never seen any of his YouTube videos. I've only interacted and followed his ferrarichat thread.
